Sunday, February 5, 2012 GO GIANTS!!!
Hi Runners! We started our week on Sunday which was a day earlier than normal due to the kick off of our Winter Run Challenge Week. It was a week of “Super” challenges! I think the wind early in the week caused the most challenging experience, but we didn’t have to deal with cold, snow, or ice. We had cupcakes and ice cream at Shane’s after our run from the Athletic Club on Sunday in honor of Mike’s birthday. Monday evening we met as usual at the fairgrounds. The group was small, and many cut it short so that we could get to the funeral home to be with Gretchen and Roy. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them. On Tuesday we met at Starbucks for a run at 11:30AM. It was windy, but the sun was shining and the temps were unseasonably warm. Wednesday night everyone was in shorts. If you see the picture I posted, you sure wouldn’t think it was of the WINTER run challenge! We’d like to welcome Phillip to the group. Somehow Shane is taking credit for getting him there even though Shane met him for the first time on Wednesday. (I think he just wanted to take home the Colts prize for the night.) Thursday we had another nice evening for a run and a fun time at the Coffee Shop afterwards. The Biggerman clan joined us, dog and all, for the run and fun. I gave away a couple of prizes for correct answers to Super Bowl trivia questions. Small group at the Intelliplex Friday night, but still a nice evening. Sara, Craig, Ethan, and I did a short run to get in our daily mileage, and Craig made good on his goal and wore his heart rate monitor. Lisa Kiefer texted me later in the evening and said she was heading out on the dark country roads to stick with her goal. She took the dog and enjoyed the run and made it home safely! Our biggest challenge of challenge week came Saturday morning when we were greeted with some rain. Small group on the circle but a bigger group at our house for breakfast. No shy runners when it comes to free food! Kent was happy to make pancakes for the crew, and we had other goodies to go along with them. Great job to everyone on making it through Run Challenge Week. We’ll do it again late July for our summer edition and hope for some nice days then too!
Training: It’s going to feel like a boring week as we get back to our normal schedule. We’ll be at Fairgrounds at 5:00PM on Monday for 3 miles. We’ll be at Sunrise Park at 5:00PM on Wednesday for 3 miles. We’ll be on the circle at 7:30AM on Saturday for 7 miles.
Racing: Energy2Action Ladies First 5K is THIS Saturday evening at 5:00PM. (Since it’s an evening event, you won’t get an attendance point! You’ll still have to be on the circle Saturday MORNING for your point!) Make it a date and bring your Valentine out for a race with pasta dinner to follow. Info is online. Sunday at 1:00 is the Groundhog 7 at Zionsville High School.
Shirts: Mike has worked diligently to get a shirt planned for us that has half marathon tips on it. It’s a short-sleeved technical shirt, and we’ll be taking orders soon. I’ll have sizes available for you to check out at upcoming training runs. Cost will be around $20. Let me know if you’re interested!
Happy 1st Birthday TODAY to C.J. Scott!
Happy Birthday on Friday to Jim Biggerman!
Gotta Run!
