Just getting started walking or running?
Been running for years?
Somewhere in between?

THEN THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU!

Coach Steve Gosnell, a runner and coach for 25 years, will present a training program that is designed to lead each individual to the successful completion of the Mini-Marathon on May 5, 2012 - no  matter what your training goals are!  Participants, however, do not need to be registered for the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon in order to participate in E2A's on line training program.  What a great way to get in shape for 2012!  Walkers and beginner runners are welcome!  Experienced and advanced runners will find structure, training advice and encouragement and the ACCOUNTABILITY that we all need!
WEEKLY EMAILS!

Emails will be sent out and instructions posted on line starting January 15, 2012, and each week thereafter.  These emails will contain mileage instructions for beginner - advanced participants with other detailed instructions that will lead participants toward a successful outcome and completion of a 13.1 mile event in May.  Participants will be able to ask questions on line and will receive extra information regarding shoes, nutrition, dealing with and preventing injuries, etc.

WHAT IF I'M NOT DOING THE INDIANAPOLIS MINI-MARATHON THIS YEAR?

No problem!  This program is designed to help you train and get ready to run a 13.1 mile distance in early May.  You can participate in the program even if you are not planning on doing a specific event or the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon.

What if I'm not SURE if I can do a 13.1 Mile Walk/Run?

You never know until you try!  But completing a half marathon takes PREPARATION!  Coach Gosnell will help you prepare by making recommendations for distances to be completed each week.  These recommendations are based on each person's current fitness level.  If you feel overwhelmed or overworked by the recommendations then you can make adjustments accordingly.  If you get close to 'race day' and do not feel comfortable attempting to complete the event, you can always wait until next time!  Either way your time will be WELL SPENT and WELL INVESTED!  An investment in your health is VERY worthwhile for you and your family!  Runs and walks can be completed on treadmills OR outside.

What is my current fitness level?

Walker:
This group will address both beginner walkers and  advanced walkers.
You should, however, be able to walk at least one mile without stress or any uncomfortableness to participate in this program.

Beginner Runner:
Not having done much, if any, running.  No significant mileage being currently completed.  You should, however, be able to WALK or RUN at least a mile without stress or any uncomfortableness to participate in this program.

Intermediate Runner:
Currently running 20-35 miles per week.  Pace does not matter.

Advanced Runner:
Currently running 35 miles per week or more.  Pace can vary but training recommendations and workouts will be geared toward folks attempting to achieve a 7:00 pace or less at a half-marathon distance.  So if you are generally slower than a 7:00 pace you might need to make some adjustments and back down some of the weekly mileage.
TRAINING RACES

Practice Training Races are just group runs/walks that you may participate in if you wish.  This will also give you an apportunity to meet Coach Goz in person and ask any questions of him or the other
